The tools for this job vary with your needs and what you have available but will always include free movement of your body. Athletic movement is the foundation for all else. Bodyweight strength and fitness drills are by no means an easy option and for many it is often enough! For others kettlebells and other demanding devices satisfy a need for a different kind of intensity.

From Russia to America to London
Such was my determination to find a career that really excited me, that I travelled the world in search of it. Ironically, it turned out to be something invented by a Russian living in America. I have always loved the fitness industry and got it straight after secondary school and continued through University. I qualified as a Personal Trainer in London, where I now live, and eventually as a Russian Kettlebell instructor in the USA.

I was born in a small town called Penza in Russia (700,000 people, not big for Russia). From the age of 4 my parents challenged me with different sports, ice skating, gymnastics, dancing, athletics and swimming – I ended up swimming.

"A few years ago, whilst rehabbing a broken leg, I stumbled (excuse the pun) across Pavel Tsatsouline and his 'low tech/high concept' Russian Kettlebell Challenge. With a background in martial arts I was familiar with some of his bodyweight and mobility drills but it was the power of the Kettlebell and its immediate benefits that changed everything. Unlike conventional dumbbells, the kettlebell’s offset center of gravity made even the simplest lifts more demanding. Suddenly 16 kilos didn’t feel like 16 kilos anymore.

He has trained with the most well known names in the strength community, namely Pavel Tsatsouline, Brett Jones, Kenneth Jay, David Whitely, Steve Cotter and Vasily Ginko. The knowledge and experience he has gained from them has shaped the way that Paul trains his clients today.

The "dr" is a phd for research i do in human factors: where humans and computers meet; my main research of late is how these systems can help improve our quality of life. Physical, nutritional, social and mental well being all contribute to our health. So how make it easier to get to that place?
