I'm sick of the flimsy doorway pull-up bars - they're not wide/high enough and are generally unstable.
I also don't want to drill any holes in the wall (I live in rented accommodation)
Does anyone know where I can get/build a proper pullup bar like this: http://www.tacticalathlete.com/tapsbar.htm but in the UK.
Ideally I'd like to set it up in my garden and do the crossfit style kipping pullups so height/strength is important as I'm 6'3" & 17st.
It'd be an ideal thing for LKBs to stock ;) or maybe I should just blag some scaffolding from a building site or something & make my own :)

tactical pull up bar
we had a look at these but the shipping and handling was immense!
Have you seen the Power Bar? http://www.gizoo.co.uk/Products/HealthFitness/Fitness/Powerbar.htm

Similar to a TAPS bar. I am loookig for somethin to do weighted chins on i managed to pull my door way chin bar off the wall whilst chinning with my 24kg bell attached.
That looks really decent but
That looks really decent but I'm too heavy for its 17st limit as I'm 17st 9lbs!
The powerbar that Ken & Andy suggested has a 20st limit so I could even do weighted pullups which would be cool & it's £35 on amazon.
I remember several years ago when I was a member of one of those poncey fitness-first gyms. They had a wall-mounted pull-up bar (which was normally used to hang towels from) I did a load of pull-ups and it came clean out of the wall via the screws like you said... So I just quickly looked around, saw nobody was looking, quickly put it on the floor and walked off whistling and left really quickly.
Powerbar question
Does anyone know if you can do kipping style pull ups on the powerbar?
