Darth Vader trains with London Kettlebells

"Crushing the galaxy is tough work and for someone on as busy a schedule as myself it can be hard to find time to train and sharpen my Sith Skills. That's why I train with kettlebells as I always feel that much more evil after a session with Steve and Ken." - Darth Vader.

Building works

After unexpectedly crossing a long term goal off the list there are no excuses to delay the massive upgrade of the LKB site.

We have an incredible amount of data onsite that needs to be properly categorised and linked in, a new template in the wings, better multimedia (pod and videocasts) and a bigger version of our training manuals. Most "fun" of all, we're moving to a new server to allow all these features. I won't be getting much sleep...

Lots to do, I've got my geek hat firmly on.

*** NEW FEATURES ***
"freetagging" to categorise content: converting the community page into a kettlebell training networking site (think *cough*Space for serious fitness training) and some others which I can't even describe!

Videoblogging: Add video clips to your blog! Attach the video (the box at the top) then add the [ video ] command to your blog post to insert the clip. (Removing the spaces from the square brackets)

Loads of updates

Things have been crazy busy on the work front, business front and training front.

Anyhoo, the interesting stuff first - training restarted after rehabbing an injury from a while back. Made it my mission to improve my double kettlebell press and up the double snatch numbers too.

EDT Zone 1
dbl kettlebell high pulls paired with dbl KB clean and press.

EDT Zone 2
dbl kettlebell front squat paired with dbl KB deadlifts.

Business wise we are working on upgrading the site again, lots of functionality to add in, our kettlebells are making their way over and we have our first masterclass later this month. All sorts of exciting things.

Finally, for my loyal readers, all seven of you, we have a few nice surprises lined up!

Until next time...Â

Healing

A quick update.

Pain in the glute muscles has now receeded. I still have limited mobility in the left hamstring. I have been doing plenty of stretching around the affected area, still using a combination of ice and heat treatments.

I intend to restart the kb training on monday, with a few light swings and some light kb deadlifting. If all goes well I will be slowly building up the volume and intensity.

It is good to see the progress on the board. Keep up the good work

AndywÂ

Injury

Here is a warning to you all. Never let your focus falter.

I was picking up a 16k bell yesterday morning and was not in the correct lifting position. I felt a little twinge but thought nothing of it.

This morning I am in agony. My left butt cheek feels like someone is sticking a knife in it. I cannot even touch my knees, never mind my toes.

I am visiting the osteopath tomorrow, getting the maximum dose of pain killers and applying the ice packs. My training is obviously on hold. I have a really busy 2 weeks of golf tournaments starting thursday and I could really do without this.

All, treat your training with the respect it deserves, stay focused and avoid injury!

Andyw

Sore Forearms

Started early today. Final levelling of the soil and away we go. 20 square meters of turf to lay. Nice circular lawn for the wife. 25 25k bags of assorted top soil to walk the 15 meters from the front to the back garden. All done before 11 o clock. My forearms now feel really heavy and are as hard as concrete. Really good work out, and in the good books with the one that matters.

Andyw

Golf Score

The value of patience. I started today's round like I had never played before. 6 overpar after 5 holes. All my shots and more gone. A previous incarnation of myself would have given up, got progressively worse, and finished the round like an ogre. Not any more.

Buckled down, took one shot at a time, and played the next 13 holes in 2 under par.

I can now look forward to next Sundays 36 hole tournament with confidence high.
